As his last official act before resigning from office last Wednesday former Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski made good on one of his electoral promises and signed a supreme degree which increases the minimum wage in Peru.
Peruvian Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion Javier Barreda informed that from April 1, 2018 the new national minimum wage in Peru increases from present S/ 850 to S/ 930 (about US$ 290) per month; small and micro enterprises are given a grace period until May to pay their employees accordingly.
The last increase of the minimum wage was during the presidency of Ollanta Humala in May 2016. Back then the minimum remuneration rose from S/ 750 to S/ 850.
