Cainiao, the logistics company launched by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba in 2013, has signed a memorandum with Correos del Peru to create the largest logistic network in South America.
Reports in Latin American and Chinese media state that the companies plan to improve express delivery services and e-shopping experience in Peru and South America in general.
Cainiao is not a traditional logistic company, but rather provides a data-driven logistics platform to about 100 Chinese and international logistics companies. Cainiao partners with these logistics providers, both in China and abroad, and links them together through Cainiao’s software and online network. And it seems that Correos del Peru will be now one of them.
According to the reports Cainiao and Correos del Peru will establish a system for the exchange of digital data that standardizes procedures, allows real-time tracking and facilitate customs clearance. Both companies furthermore agreed on establishing new express mail routes between China and Peru as well as improving bilateral communication mechanism.
